What do you do on a day when you are just grumpy and you don’t know what started it. You begin wondering what should be done with your own self and your day. Well, I planned to sit back and enjoy a film followed by some venting out of feelings through writing. Sometimes I think I can continue writing and not tire, and then there are others when I just don’t feel like looking at my laptop for days together!
Today I thought I’ll write on what makes me crabby. Hmmmm...thought provoking! I pondered over the last few months and listed out a few characteristics describing what bugs ‘Me.’ Here goes ‘The unadulterated Me!’ ;-)
1. I’m truly the ‘yaaro ki yaar n dushmano ki dushman.’ It’s very difficult for me to fake being nice to someone. If I don’t like someone I usually make it very certain. (Considering the industry I’m almost in now, a very negative quality, as told to me by lot of people.) I’m constantly nudged to learn a bit of diplomacy but, I think I’ll learn it in my grave while bargaining a few more years with God ;-)
2. I’m moody, very moody at times. My friends and family understand this side of me as well as they understand the loving side of me. When I’m in one of those cranky and snappy moods, I just switch off. No phone calls to be answered, no messages to be replied to(except the work related ones). Anyone who tries to be extra sweet to me during this time usually is at the receiving end of hell’s fury! I mean, for God’s sake let me be! Every one of us has our own switch off times so if I have mine, why should someone have a problem? Usually when I get out of this mood I return calls or messages myself. So, the people who aren’t being replied to within 24 hrs, please get the HINT that you aren’t important enough to be answered to, for me!
3. I lose my cool on people who don’t understand that its bad manners to continuously keep calling while someone is already on a call. Again, if your call was more important than the one being attended, then you would’ve been spoken to. But no, some obstinate people go on calling despite you disconnecting their call 8-9 times! Hello??!!! Are you stupid that you don’t get hints! It could be that you don’t understand the operator saying “vyasta aahe” but you sure can understand when it repeats in English “is busy on another call.”
4. Like any woman my hormones play havoc in my system! At times I’m this happy go lucky girl. At others I’m a quiet observer who’ll not want to mingle with anyone(actually also depends on the place and people I’m with) This doesn’t make me arrogant or snooty. I’m just choosy about whom to be nice to ;-)
5. I’m single but I’M NOT AVAILABLE! For me love is magical. I don’t believe in the theory that one falls in love over a period of time. For me it’s been absolute immediate. Whether it was my 6 yr long relationship with a guy who couldn’t respect women and lost me due to his increasingly ill mannered behaviour over the years or the man I was with for a year and a half after that. I have nothing against the 2nd man in my life, for I still maintain he is a wonderful man. The circumstances we met in didn’t allow us sticking together for long. After him, I just have lost the stamina to fall in love. It takes too much energy to share yourself with someone or try and know what ticks between you both! I’d rather be with my family, friends and myself than invest energy and time in “trying to love someone” I never can nor want to.
6. I’m no longer a phone person. I dislike talking too much on the phone unless it’s with my family and few close friends (that too not hours together) I indulge in messaging my friends but, again too many messages tire me. I can write mails or messages on inbox and I prefer this best, because I’m not bound to answer them immediately. I can take my own sweet time and reply. Wherever there’s a pressure and expectation of instantly replying, I lose interest .At times I’m watching a movie or television or writing or talking on the phone or just working out. It isn’t practically possible to be replying amid these things.
7. There are people who treat others as their ‘drive to work time pass’. Mostly they have nothing remotely intelligent to talk about. They crack stupidest of jokes you just wouldn’t want to laugh at. So they get saved in my “Do not pick” list! I’ve better things to do than waste time on entertaining these people.
8. I like people who are flexible. Its important to respect the other person’s opinions and views. One should agree to disagree and allow “To each his own” rule to prevail. There are some who breathe down your neck or try to shove their opinion down your throat and that is such a put off!
9. I don’t care what the world thinks or talks of me. I live by my belief that
“Let the world talk and preach...just "hear" don't even "listen" because when your work will talk (sooner or later) the world will "shut up" and take notice!
10. Lastly I believe that when things aren’t going right and when life laughs at you, just smile back in return. It’ll ease half the pressure anyways.
I really relate to this song by Alanis Morissette:
I hate the world today
You're so good to me I know but I can't change
I tried to tell you but you look at me like maybe
I'm an angel underneath; innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried; Must've been relief to see the softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you; I'm a little bit of everything
all rolled into one
I'm a bitch I'm a lover
I'm a child I'm a mother
I'm a sinner I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
you know you wouldn't want it any other way
So take me as I am
This may mean you'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous
and I'm going to extremes; Tomorrow I will change
And today won't mean a thing.
I'm a bitch I'm a lover
I'm a child I'm a mother
I'm a sinner I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
you know you wouldn't want it any other way
Just when you think, you got me figured out
The season's already changin'
I think it's cool; you do what you do
And don't try to save me
I'm a bitch I'm a lover
I'm a child I'm a mother
I'm a sinner I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
you know you wouldn't want it any other way
I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When your hurt; when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb; I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way.

ReplyDeleteI am wonderful. Working and still living in Minnesota. When you coming to visit the US?
ReplyDeleteThere are few lines in Punjabi which sums it up
ReplyDelete'kuch shaher de loog bhi zalim see
kuch sanu bhi marnay da shook seyan'
Sory for poor pronunciation. But I tried my best
Are you fleeing from Love because of a single humiliation?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you know of Love except the name?
Love has a hundred forms of pride and disdain,
and is gained by a hundred means of persuasion.
Since Love is loyal, it purchases one who is loyal:
it has no interest in a disloyal companion.
The human being resembles a tree; its root is a covenant with God:
that root must be cherished with all one's might.
A weak covenant is a rotten root, without grace or fruit.
Though the boughs and leaves of the date palm are green,
greenness brings no benefit if the root is corrupt.
If a branch is without green leaves, yet has a good root,
a hundred leaves will put forth their hands in the end.
@Anonymous 1- sorry im a lil lost...wat was that quote's reference to here?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 2- no i don't run away from love but i don't run towards it too...it'll find me if and when it has to :)
