Iss khamoshi me bhi tanaav hai bahut....Mere khayalaat bhi aajakl aapas me jhagdte hain. Kahin bhi sukoon nahi , har waqt bechaini si...
I try to figure out the cause behind the unrest every day. It starts with hurt, transcends to anger which in turn transcends to a hollow!
I live in my own house which is at a much desired peaceful place and away from the hub nub of the madness of the city. Quietude, isolation and my space – it has everything I’d want in my home, yet I miss having my family around.
So many thoughts cross my mind every time I’m sitting alone in my room at night. The silent road, the dim street lights, the 2-3 strange figures reaching their house in the chawls below. Their chawl is a home to them coz they go to their families after a hard day’s struggle. They go back to “somebody” to people and not just things! Guess that pretty much is the essence of calling a house a home- Yes having your ‘own people’ be it friends or family!
I read this certain piece which stayed with me:
"Tamam umar wohi qissa-e-safar kehna
Ke aa saka na humen apne ghar ko ghar kehna."
It made me think what really does make a house a home! When people start staying in a house what do they start with. Different people do different things, but, the one thing I’ve seen common in all is excitement to shift in a new house, whether its rented or their own -everything they put in is usually with their heart & soul & exercising their own choice.
I have never appreciated people who have their own houses, huge as hell, yet the love, the effort in making it a home goes completely missing! You see dirt, unkempt rooms, and an unbothered, not taken care of house! That puts me off!
On one hand there are people who put all that they can in making a rented apartment their own and on the other hand you have callous people, who complain lack of time over years and do nothing, in order to make it a liveable home!
I’m not blaming ‘taste’ here and I’m most certainly not talking of people who have a bad taste in doing up houses. To each his own, what could be good for them might not be for us and vice versa. I’m talking here of people who just don’t do ANYTHING!
I once went to my maid’s chawl in my neighbourhood and was amazed to see the way she’d kept her house. Carefully stacked suitcases above her cupboard, pooja corner, a small kitchen within her bedroom, neatly arranged utensils above the gas counter, a worn out carpet given by one of the ladies she worked for. I was truly impressed. It was not a mansion yet it was kept neatly coz that was her “home.”
Whether its paying bills, a carpentar's/plumber's job or a simple car wash..."u" have to take the onus of getting it all organised. One shouldn't depend on their relatives/friends/in laws staying close by to be getting it all organised while they rest in peace, oblivious to the pains others have to take for them.
You bought the house, you bought the car..its yours' why not for a change take ownership in all ways possible?
To all those people who don’t realise the value and importance of things God gives us, look at the downtrodden around you and see how much they make d most of everything. It’s truly inspiring at times to see them live their life with so much zeal and passion! Wonder where ours’ is lost in the hustling noisy city!
